These 2½-pound hand-held fire extinguishers, which use siliconized Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), are quality built and come with a metal nozzle, gauge and single strap metal bracket. The handy extinguishers are also great for home, garage, car, boat or trailer. Although we would much rather sell a Halon or Halon-substitute extinguisher, at the time of this printing no one is offering an approved substitute. Therefore, this dry-chemical extinguisher is the best for the purpose. Do not be fooled by companies selling more expensive Purple-K or Monoammonium Phosphate ABC extinguishers. These chemicals are not as good for the job at hand and are more caustic to the engine parts. Clean up after use is easier because the chemical by nature does not bake to a hot surface. The Sodium Bicarbonate dry chemical is also non-toxic. For now, barring Halon, this is our best recommendation for a hand-held extinguisher. Rated 10B:C.
