Description

The 4.8-liter system is a racing approved system by SCCA, PRO-SCCA, Trans Am, World Speed Challenge, American LeMans, NASA, and others. This is a 4 nozzle, 3 zone system utilizing the newest T-style nozzle, bulkhead fitting, 20 ft of aluminum tubing and the other features of the 2.3-liter system. This system is available as an owner fillable system and as a SFI 17.1 compliant system. The SFI 17.1 compliant system requires that the systems be shipped full, sealed, and certified for 2 years of service. We offer a re-certification program for both 17.1 and non-17.1 systems. Call our offices for more information at 1-800-949-5712.

This system was created for the hardcore racer. It is designed to provide three zones of coverage - driver, engine, and fuel cell. The aluminum cylinder and hardware keep down the weight and yet the 4.8 liters of suppression agent provides better coverage than the competition. The 4.8-liter system will produce approximately 30 liters of foam when activated, enough to subdue the most stubborn fire. In non SFI 17.1 compliant systems, you clean up with water and can recharge the system at the track with a recharge kit (retail under $70) and fresh water. The SFI 17.1 compliant version of the 4.8-liter system requires that the system be shipped back to us for recertification. We offer a re-certification program for both 17.1 and non-17.1 systems. The stainless steel t-bolt mounting brackets allow easy access for tech inspection and storage during the off season.

Rules for SCCA Club Racing require a SFI 17.1 certified fire system in all newly logbooked cars in classes requiring fire systems. Upgrade to a SFI 17.1 fire system for just $15.00. Additionally, SCCA will allow the club racer to use the ESS refill kits without requiring any recertification. This is a great advantage for the club racer over any other system since if they are fired, they must be sent back to the factory to be refilled and recertified.

Rules for Lucky Dog, LeMons and the like require a SFI 17.1 certified fire system in all cars. Both our 2.3-liter and 4.8-liter systems will satisfy their rules. To be SFI-certified the bottle must be recertified every two years and the seal must not be broken. If the system is deployed, you must send it back to the manufacturer (or his agent) for refill and recertification. I/O Port is the West Coast agent for ESS and does all certifications and recertifications right here in Lafayette, California.

Key Benefits

  • Larger coverage area than the 2.3 liter
  • Meets or exceeds most sanctioning body requirements
  • It is also available in AFFF-AR for use on alcohol based fires
  • Bottle dimensions: 18.5" x 5.25"
  • Upgrade to SFI-Certification for just $15.00
  • Fire extinguishers are defined as a hazardous material for shipping. We recommend shipping by ground transportation for the most cost-effective method. But if you are in a hurry, we will ship by air. There is a $100 surcharge for HAZMAT fees and extra shipping costs.
  • I/O Port now uses a lower-cost shipping method to save you money. HAZMAT fees for this extinguisher are only $9.95!
Note: Do not allow the filled cylinder to freeze during transport, use or storage. I/O Port will not ship an SFI-certified system when weather conditions show freezing conditions during transport.
