2.3 Liter AFFF Fire System, ESS

The 2.3 liter system is approved by SCCA, NASA, PCA, BMW Club, and others for competition and track days. This is a 3 nozzle system utilizing our T-style nozzle design, a bulkhead tee fitting for two-nozzle coverage of the engine compartment, all fittings, stainless steel mounting brackets, pull cable activation, our re-designed pull cable mounting bracket for easy installation, 10 feet of aluminum tubing, and detailed instructions.

This system is available as an owner-fillable system and as a SFI 17.1 compliant system. The SFI 17.1 compliant system requires that the system be shipped full, sealed, and certified for 2 years of service. We offer a re-certification program for both 17.1 and non-17.1 systems. This system is a two zone system. It is designed to give protection to two zones in the event of a fire - most commonly the driver and the engine. In place of the engine the fuel cell could be the second zone.

Rules for SCCA Club Racing require a SFI 17.1 certified fire system in all newly logbooked cars in classes requiring fire systems. Upgrade to a SFI 17.1 fire system for just $15.00. Additionally, SCCA will allow the club racer to use the ESS refill kits without requiring any recertification. This is a great advantage for the club racer over any other system since if they are fired, they must be sent back to the factory to be refilled and recertified.

Rules for NASA, Lucky Dog, LeMons and the like require a SFI 17.1 certified fire system in all cars. Both our 2.3-liter and 4.8-liter systems will satisfy their rules. To be SFI-certified the bottle must be recertified every two years and the seal must not be broken. If the system is deployed, you must send it back to the manufacturer (or his agent) for refill and recertification. I/O Port is the West Coast agent for ESS and does all certifications and recertifications right here in Lafayette, California.

Note: Do not allow the filled cylinder to freeze during transport, use or storage. I/O Port will not ship an SFI-certified system when weather conditions show freezing conditions during transport.
